Cara Delevingne made headlines at Princess Eugenie’s wedding last month when she wore a suit, complete with tailcoat and top hat – and in my mind she was the best dressed wedding guest there.
But while it was a maverick move, the model has since confessed she did ask her friend for approval first. Speaking to Grazia, she said she texted Eugenie just before the wedding.
She said, ‘Eugenie has been a friend of mine since I was a kid, and I’ve always wanted to wear tails. I texted her, as I wasn’t sure about it, and she was like, ‘Of course, I expected nothing else from you!’’
And it turns out everyone else at the wedding loved it. ‘I found it interesting how many people came up to me and said, ‘You’re so brave to wear that!’ I was like, really? I feel way more comfortable like this,’ she said.
I see what she means, suits aren’t traditional attire for women at normal weddings, let alone royal ones that are ruled by protocol.
But times are a’changing, and even Meghan loves wearing suits during official outings. And why the heck not?
