Ever attended a wedding only to discover that there are at least a couple of people wearing the same dress as you? There’s no shame in this, but if you’re really keen on wearing something unique (especially if you’ve agonised over what you’re going to wear), it can be a little disappointing.
The solution is pretty simple: Have a hunt around for the latest dress brands that are starting to get popular and voilà—you’re no longer dressed the same as anyone. But who actually has the time to do all that research? Luckily, it’s my job, so I’m able to spend a decent amount of time finding the coolest dress brands every editor I know currently wears.
On the hunt for your new favourite floral dress? Look no further than this brand created by sister duo Ai Ly and Wayne Lee. While flowers seem to be the brand’s usual print, there’s also a leopard-print dress that’s also caught our attention.
“Dreamy” is just one word to describe the dresses created by designer Josephine Dahlin. While the colours might be simple, they’re super elegant.
Created with stylists Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars, this Danish brand is a place to find fun dresses with bold sleeves and prints. The minis are ideal for dancing well into the night.
Thanks to Copenhagen Fashion Week, Instagram has been flooded with the latest looks from Cecilie Bahnsen’s collection. This brand is one to go to for puffy dresses that are as fun as they are cool. Also ideal for hiding the fact that you went for thirds at the wedding buffet.
Australian label Lee Mathews offers clean lines but with bold sleeves and little details (such as side ties) that make this brand a real fashion-crowd head-turner.
If you’re into super floral dresses, might we suggest Horror Vacui? The designs are perfect for any kind of wedding.
Okay, yes, these dresses do look a little like nighties, but that’s part of their charm. Wear to a destination wedding with gold sandals and oversized earrings and you’ll feel fabulous.
Another great brand if you’re into more simple designs, Kalita’s dresses are created to take you from the beach to cocktails. The perfect choice if you’re headed to foreign climes for some nuptials.
The trend for wrap dresses might be a little quiet right now, but they look so great on everyone. Art Dealer knows this and has such a cool range of them that we’re surprised they’re not all completely sold out yet. Try the two-toned version or the Barbie pink version.
Another winning brand that we’ve seen on Instagram a lot right now is Bernadette. From chic floral wrap dresses to slinky gingham midis, these are bound to make a statement at any wedding you attend.
If you’re taken by bold colours and silhouettes, try Nackiyé—a brand inspired by the Middle East that creates standout dresses.
We haven’t been able to stop thinking about the dresses from Maggie Marilyn. While the designs are uncluttered, there are details such as a little belt or ruched sleeves that make these silk dresses total winners.
