The “Lights Down Low” singer, 32, candidly opened up about her wellness journey via Instagram on Tuesday, September 1. She bluntly admitted that she doesn’t enjoy fitness-related activities, but recognizes its importance in keeping her healthy.

“Gonna be honest … I hate working out. I dread it,” she wrote, sharing a pic of her toned abs in a stylish bikini. “I’m one of those girls that watches the clock and counts down to the last second when I can be done. I wish I enjoyed it. I wish I was a big workout junkie, but the truth is I just don’t! With that being said … I do know that in order to achieve the strong body that I want to have and maintain I MUST put the hard work into it.”

The Eric & Jessie alum then got “real” about the types of workouts she prefers and the ones she’d rather avoid. Decker shared that she doesn’t like running and won’t “do much of that,” but she does like “lifting weights and quick circuit training.” She also enjoys hopping on the StairMaster, going for long walks and doing lunges.

Decker acknowledged that one important thing she’s done to keep healthy is to monitor what she chooses to eat. This is something that has ultimately inspired her to make her upcoming cookbook, Just Feed Me.

“I work out a few times a week and usually no more than 40 minutes [at] time. But the biggest factor is watching what I EAT and making sure whatever I’m putting in my body is going to make me feel strong and energized,” the country songstress explained. “I’m really excited to share that in my cookbook @justfeedme I have an ENTIRE chapter on what I eat in a day and recipes to share with you on what it is I eat on a daily basis to maintain.”

The “Wanted” singer added, “It’s high protein low carbs and these recipes are absolutely delicious that you won’t even feel like you’re watching your fitness!!! I’m really proud of this chapter in particular because it’s something you all [have] been asking me to share for a long time and I finally got to put it all in one spot!”

Decker shares Vivianne, 6, Eric, 4, and Forrest, 2, with husband Eric Decker. Following the birth of her youngest child, the “You’re Still the One” artist honestly addressed her tough experience with postpartum weight loss.

“I know you’ll see a lot of people in the public eye and they drop weight in what seems like five minutes after having a baby and I think we all feel like we should live up to those expectations,” she wrote via Instagram in January 2019. “I’ve even been guilty of that myself and thinking I need to rush and lose weight two months after having a baby when I see all these skinny girls post baby, but that is just not realistic for the majority of us.”

Jessie continued, “I have been every shape and size over the last 4 1/2 years from having children and never had to worry about losing weight until I had kids. I had [a] good metabolism and had always been that way before. Having children definitely changed everything and I’m so blessed and grateful to have my babies as y’all know, but it definitely can test your self-esteem when you are used to looking and feeling a certain way.”
