Kamala Harris Wore a Liquid Sequin Cocktail Dress by Yet Another Emerging Black Designer

After wearing a gorgeous purple Christopher John Rogers outfit to the inauguration, Vice President Kamala Harris attended the Celebrating America TV special wearing a chic black ensemble by another emerging Black designer. For the event, Kamala opted for a tuxedo coat and shimmery sequined dress by designer Sergio Hudson. In fact, former first lady Michelle Obama wore a plum outfit by the same designer during the inauguration earlier that afternoon. Kamala dazzled in the floor-length silk tuxedo coat and cocktail dress, and she added an 18k yellow gold and diamond David Yurman American flag lapel pin. She also accessorized with rings and earrings by Irene Neuwirth, as well as black Jimmy Choo Rory pumps. Sergio told Harper's Bazaar, "We want to be uplifted right now . . . We kept the s...

Meghan Markle's Go-To Shoe Designer Is Married, and Her Bridal Heels Were Out of This World

Shoe designer Sarah Flint (who you may remember created some of Meghan Markle's most stylish flats, sandals, and boots) just got married! Flint and her husband, investment banker Sean Beresini, settled on a small DIY family ceremony in Buzzards Bay, MA, in late November. The couple's original date was last June, but COVID safety measures inspired a re-creation of their special day, all peppered with design details by Flint herself. She painted watercolor flowers on the menus and arranged the arch that Sean built himself; the bouquet and boutonniere also came courtesy of the creative bride. But of course, Sarah is known for her shoes, and she dreamed them up during the planning process. "I wore the same dress, shoes, and accessories that I had planned for a much larger wedding, and I wo...

If You Thought These 24 H&M Items Were Designer, I Wouldn't Blame You

It can't just be me—I had to do a double-take when I saw these H&M finds because they're just so stunning. Perusing the site's new arrivals is a weekly activity of mine and on my latest visit, I came across more than a few finds that actually stopped me dead in my scrolling tracks. While these pieces fall well under the £100 mark, I wouldn't blame you for assuming otherwise. As a fashion editor, I have a keen eye for spotting expensive-looking details and since I'm always looking at designer clothing, I can easily spot those luxe details elsewhere. And the H&M pieces you're about to see below immediately reminded me of something I would see on a luxury retailer, whether it's a buttery yellow-hues sweater or a pair of polished knee-high boots. To see them for yourself and shop all ...

Kamala Harris Supports a Black LGBTQ+ Designer With Her Purple Inauguration Coat

Kamala Harris, the first female, first Black woman, and first woman of South Asian descent to be elected Vice President of the United States, has arrived at the presidential inauguration in Christopher John Rogers. Her dedication to wearing Black designers since her arrival in Washington, DC (having chosen a Pyer Moss coat for a service the evening before) is incredibly meaningful. Christopher John Rogers, also an LGBTQ+ designer, shared a video of Kamala ushering in a new era at Capitol Hill alongside her husband Doug Emhoff, Joe Biden (in Ralph Lauren), and Dr. Jill Biden (in Markarian). Between the four of them, they have done well to represent emerging fashion talent, minorities, and a classic nonpartisan label with their outfit choices, painting a picture of the diverse America the...
