Prabal Gurung Gets Specific About the Disgraceful Racism He's Faced as an Asian Fashion Designer

Image Source: Getty / Mike Coppola Asian American fashion designer and activist Prabal Gurung was born in Singapore, grew up in Nepal, and lived in India before starting his New York-based namesake brand 12 years ago "to show marginalized people that they are seen, and that they matter." He is one of the influencers, editors, and designers using his platform to address the anti-Asian hate crimes in America, among others such as Phillip Lim, Public School's Dao-Yi Chow, and Allure Editor in Chief Michelle Lee. "I was advised to limit the diversity of my runways because clients wouldn't be as receptive to non White models." While he's speaking up now, most recently penning an op-ed for CNN about the discrimination he's faced in the fashion industry, urging the rest of his peers to stand...

4 Very Specific Colours Trending at Zara, H&M, and Mango

I know there are plenty of people who are staunchly loyal to wearing black, but I don't happen to be one of them. I've found that colour is a great way to try out trends because you can choose classic, tried-and-true silhouettes in fun hues. In other words, you can feel like you're having fun with fashion without the risk of investing in any flash-in-the-pan trends. To that end, I recently tapped a Pantone colour expert to offer her take on the most soothing colours to wear right now. This time around, I sought out a different kind of expert: our readers' favourite retailers. I scanned through Zara, H&M, and Mango to see the common themes among them. The result: I found four specific colours that popped up time and time again. Scroll down to shop the stylish shades. Proof that wide-l...

You're Going to See a Lot of This Very Specific Style Of Jeans This Year

While there are of course some exceptions, we find the chicest jeans are always the simplest jeans. Sure the silhouettes can change from skinny to straight to loose without compromising on sleekness, but as for adornments and embellishments? We find they, at best, date rather quickly or, at worst, look cheaper than they often are. There are, however, some tweaks that can be made that are so subtle but also so ingenious, they actually improve upon and help to elevate jeans. And that's where Agolde comes in. Agolde jeans have been dominating in fashion circles of late thanks to their flawless cuts and premium-looking washes—even the lightest, borderline-bleach denim, which can often go wrong, looks super luxe. While its classic denim is undoubtedly a hit, there's one pair of Agolde jeans ...

My Favourite Beauty Products Contain This Very Specific Super Ingredient

Like so many of you, I've found myself taking a closer look at the ingredients found in my beauty products, particularly over the past couple of years. And while I've certainly got a long way to go in terms of thoroughly cleaning up my routine, I'm beginning to phase out some ingredients which I know are doing my body more harm than good. As such, I'm becoming increasingly familiar with the names of ingredients which I previously wouldn't have given a second thought. It wasn't until recently, however, that I began to realise that several of my favourite beauty products all contain the same ingredient: something called monoi oil. Coincidence? I think not. All of the products I use that contain monoi oil, across haircare and skincare, happen to be incredibly moisturising and nourishing. A...

I Don’t Like Leggings But I Can Get On Board With This Specific Style

I've never really got on with leggings. Unless I'm running I don't wear them at all. I find them unflattering and oddly not the most comfortable. However, I recently spotted Attico co-founder Giorgio Tordini wearing a pair of stirrup leggings and I think I’ve changed my mind on the whole leggings thing. It shouldn't work but I think the reason it does is that the style looks so good with heels, making it appear less workout and more high fashion. Ready to see what I mean? Keep scrolling for how to wear stirrup leggings the keep scrolling for the best styles around right now. Next up, spring/summer 2020 fashion trends you need to know.  Source link

This year's BAFTAs dress code is very specific

It looks like awards season organisers are making an effort to be more sustainable this season. The all-vegan Golden Globes menu made history earlier this month, while the SAG Awards also offered a plant-based menu. Now the BAFTA committee is asking attendees to make more educated wardrobe choices, by re-wearing something they already own, or a sustainable option. A spokesperson told Grazia, ‘Sustainability is very important to Bafta, and we’re doing more than ever before. The goal is that the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 will be carbon neutral, working towards having a net positive impact on the environment. From travel and food, to branding and materials, Bafta is ensuring the awards are as sustainable as possible.’ Guests will be given a guideline to dressing, crea...
